Building materials
Native and modified wheat starches are often used in building materials. Using AllStarch wheat based binders enables the production of ecologically inproved building materials without compromising the technical performance.
AllStarch starch-based bio-composites are produced from wheat, a renewable resource having a low environmental impact. You find our starches in plasterboard, mineral fiber based ceilings, insulation materials and in a broad range of mineral based premixes.
Plasterboard and mineral fiber ceilings
The primary purpose of a starch is to secure the bonding of the carton to the gypsum core and increase the strength of the board. By adjusting the gelatinisation properties and the viscosity profile of the starch, the product can be adapted to requirements of the production process. AllStarch products increase the dry strength of the boards.
Blends and Readymixes for Construction
In many blends used in construction , e.g. mortars, concrete fillers, mineral based adhesives AllStarch CWS wheat starches are able to replace synthetic binders partially. This is possible without sacrificing the technological properties of the construction product. They help to reduce the Carbondioxide footprint of the product, it avoids microplastic in our environment.
Allstarch CWS wheat starches help to optimise the rheology in tile adhesive. The open time of the adhesive gets longer. In mineral fillers synthetic binders can be partially replaced by AllStarch CWS. This results is a significant cost saving.
Here are the benefits of using our Allstarch native starches and CWS starches for building materials:
- better dry strength
- improved carton bonding after drying
- providing a green bond
- cost-effective solution
- homogeneous mix
- a green and sustainable alternative to synthetic binders and rheology additives
